Bognor at home on Saturday.

  1. A must win game for us. With the new players plus loan renewals selection is not so predictable. Would expect to see Jeffers, Hudson-Odoi play, Jelley has not played at this level, so he might be on the bench. The make up of the defence could be a major topic.
    What do folk think?

"Jelley has not played at this level"? Eh?

Third home game in quick succession against a team in the bottom three. Without Wassmer we are vulnerable at the back but with all the new fire power surely a win is the only acceptable result if we are going to have a serious go at the league title.

Forgettable first half but we dominated the second without looking that threatening. Crawford's header hit the bar. Kiernan also hit the bar before Jeffers did the honours in the 84th minute with a well taken goal. Needed the win with other teams around us winning as well.

  10. A poor first half, we could have been behind if it wasn’t for a goal line clearance from Wynter , who I thought had a good game.
Did majority of attacking in the second half against a Bognor team who packed their defence and looked for a breakaway goal. The woodwork saved them a couple of time before Jeffers scored. Worry was Cook coming off as to who we play in central defence on Tuesday.
Thought Baptiste improved the team when he came on for Mullen.
    Three vital points gained.

Agree about Baptiste. Also thought Crawford did well. He has a bit of niggle in him which I think we sometimes lack. Think the cold got to the PA announcer who at one stage thought we were at Griffin Park!
Also fair play to Shaun. Two starts two goals. Was a very good finish today taking it back to goal.

We made them look a half-decent side for most of the match, until we started exerting pressure in the last 20min, when they looked more like what they are -- bottom-dwelling no-hopers whose bullying tactics have fallen short at this level. Not sure why their fans were having a go at the ref at the end, other than sheer desperation and a sense of foreboding, it looked a justified red and their side did nothing to try to win the game during the second period. For our part, not convinced that playing Jeffers alone up front will bring us the goals we need for a sustained promotion push -- him and Charles together, at least for some of the match, may have the desired effect, especially against robust defenders who need putting in their place before they inevitably get sent off because they are, when all is said and done, utter donkeys.
  13. I too wondered what Charles and Jeffers would be like as a combination, we might get a chance soon?

A further reflection given not much football at present! Whilst unlikely, but who knows, a Jeffers/Coombes combination might be the promotion key?

Made right idiots of themselves. Their bloke got sent off for going in with an elbow and they have the nerve to rant at the ref for their defeat. Unbelievable.

Heard the referee’s assessor talking about a two-footed challenge which the Bognor match report mentions.
