National League playoffs

Discussion in 'Hampton and Richmond Borough FC Unofficial Forum' started by Tiberius Anacrites, Jul 2, 2020.

  1. Just seen the following on social media;

    “The National League met with playoff clubs this afternoon.

    Games will have no extra time (straight to penalties if scores are level)

    5 subs can be used out of 6 on the bench

    BT Sport is unlikely to televise Step 2 fixtures, but may still stream games.”

    Not really surprising.

    It's going to be really difficult for these clubs.

    Not having played for, what is it, 4 Months?

    I'm sure I read somewhere that they were allowed to play a friendly against a club from another league who were also in playoff contention. Not sure if this is actually happening or not...

  6. It would be hard to find a comparable club in playoff contention without the away club having to make a major journey e.g. Havant to Gateshead or York to Bath. Slough to Brackley might just be feasible, though.

    Well Dorking won 3-1 at Notts County yesterday, and Bath lost 1-0 v Yeovil, although I'm not sure when or where that game was...

  8. I stand corrected, Nick. Very good win for Dorking, that.

    I guess they thought the journey was worth it after such a morale boosting win!

    I'm going to be at the Yeovil vs Barnet game in a media capacity next week - really interested to see how the fixtures look given the break. It's much more difficult than getting the season back underway in the Premier League /
    Championship, given the players have been on furlough as well.

  15. Howes in goal for Dorking. Hardly played for Woking last season,and finished season on loan there. Allowed to continue the loan or is he looking to play for them next season?
